My Country put out the challenge to write a song live on air and you responded magnificently. The theme is When the rain comes - an anthem for when the drought ends. sabym
sabym
sabym
Songwriter Bernard Carney was asked to put it all together. His song If it ever rains again is now available to download; listen to it, learn it and sing it in the tractor, in the car, in the school yard, around a camp fire or the barbie.sabym
sabym
sabym
But this is your song. We're inviting you to write your own version using the lyrics and ideas that have been contributed so far. The only exception is the song that Bernard Carney has composed. In other words, we'd like you to come up with your own song.sabym
sabym
sabym
Send us the finished lyrics and we'll post them here.sabym
sabym
sabym
You might like to record the song and send it to us as an mp3. It doesn't need to be professionally done. We'll make it available for people to download. Your song could be the one everyone listens to going round and round on the tractor! sabym

Please be aware that any resulting work will be the copyright of the ABC and will be freely made available here on the My Country website for others to use. Any tune used must be not subject to copyright. All additional lyrics or arrangements must by your own composition and not subject to copyright.
Send us the finished lyrics (with the name of the tune) or an mp3 recording. Or you can still send lines or ideas for others to enjoy and use. We've included the traditional tune the Wearing of the Green to help you. sabym

I grew up in the wheatbelt of W.A. (north-eastern) and I can remember my Dad saying "It's so dry that the rabbits carry waterbags and the crows fly backwards to keep the dust out of their eyes". Maybe you could use part of that to add a bit of Aussie humour to the song. sabym
